Officials at a hospital in Hisar, Haryana, reported that physicians and staff allegedly kidnapped and beat a patient.
Darshan Singh, the patient's son, from Kalayat in Kaithal filed a complaint alleging that his father, Krishna, was beaten and imprisoned while he was being admitted to the Sapra Hospital's Intensive Care Unit in Sector 12 in Hisar.
The police have filed charges of assault and death threats against five individuals, including the doctor, a nursing officer, and a security guard, in response to his complaint.
A young man can be seen striking the patient with his elbow in a video of the incident that has gone viral on social media.
According to Darshan's complaint, his cousin had taken Krishna to the hospital on June 18 due to a liver ailment. He was monitored in the intensive care unit.
He added that on June 19, hospital employees had beaten and threatened to kill his father while holding him captive. Later that morning, Krishna told Darshan about the incident, and Darshan went ahead and filed the complaint.
Police added that an inquiry is ongoing against Naveen, a resident of Jogiwali in Sirsa; Sonu, a resident of Chanana in Rajasthan; a doctor; a nursing officer; and a security guard.
Dr. Tarun Sapra, the hospital coordinator, countered that the assaulters' personal affairs were unrelated to the hospital's management and that the situation was their own.
He claimed that the accused employees had been suspended.
