On Monday, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) verified an additional instance of Zika virus infection in a pregnant 31-year-old Tingrenagar resident. According to officials, the most recent case in point brings the overall number of cases in the city to twelve.
According to officials, the woman visited the Jehangir hospital for prenatal care two days ago, complaining of moderate symptoms like fever, rash, and joint pain. She is seven weeks pregnant. The hospital sent the private laboratory her samples, and the private lab reported back on July 4 that she had tested positive.
Six of the 12 cases that have been reported since June 20 are patients who are expecting.
The monitoring and containment operations have begun in three ward offices within the jurisdiction of Singhgad Road, Ahmednagar Road, and Kalas, according to Dr. Kalpana Baliwant, the PMC health officer. These are the most recent regions afflicted by the Zika virus.
On Monday, 15 samples of suspected pregnant women were sent to NIV for testing for the virus infection,". 13 of the 15 samples originate from Pashan, with one sample each from Mundhwa and Kothrud.

PMC meets with doctors and private hospitals.
The PMC Epidemiology Department and Insect Control Department met with representatives of private hospitals and physicians on Monday to discuss ways to combat the Zika virus danger, amid reports of cases in various regions of the city.
The center and state governments have released cautions and guidelines in response to multiple Zika virus cases that have been recorded in the city. To discuss the matter, a meeting was called with the managers, medical superintendents, medical administrators, and representatives of the private hospitals located in Pune city.
Prithviraj BP, Additional Municipal Commissioner, chaired the meeting, which was also attended by representatives from 52 private hospitals and Dr. Kalpana Baliwant, PMC health officer.
Dr. Baliwant gave a thorough overview of the numerous epidemics that happened during the rainy season during the meeting, with an emphasis on the Zika virus and vector-borne diseases in particular.
