Man Attacks Hospital Staff and Bites a Doctor in Bengaluru

Officials reported that a Nepalese guy who was "not in his senses" violently attacked a multispecialty hospital staff member on the outskirts of Bengaluru's south.

Ashish B K Rasauli, 32, a member of the housekeeping staff, the managing director of the hospital, and two nurses were allegedly abused on Monday night at the Sri Sai Multispeciality Hospital in Bettadasanapura. Although the doctor's report is still pending, authorities are waiting to ascertain if he was indeed under the influence of something.

The man was brought in by the local police about 8:30 p.m., bleeding heavily from injuries to his head and face, according to hospital MD Dr. Nagendrappa.

While receiving treatment, Ashish allegedly lost his temper and struck two nurses many times.

When Dr Nagendrappa attempted to interfere, Rasauli grabbed a few surgical instruments from a tray next to his bed and chased the three individuals out of the ward.

"They ran out of the room and I tried to stop him but he slashed my upper lip with a pair of scissors and bit my shoulder. I had to undergo three stitches," After Ashish received treatment, police officers waited outside the hospital to take him to jail, according to Dr. Nagendrappa.

A brief video of security camera footage from the hospital hallway allegedly captures Rasauli storming out of a room, running after others, and then striking the hospital MD. He was struggling on the hospital floor, and many people ran to hold him down.

After being put under sedation and tied to the bed, Rasauli received roughly ten stitches to treat his wounds.

Locals contacted the police helpline, and an official from the Electronics City police station stated that Rasauli was taken up from Bettadasanapura Main Road. According to the police, Rasauli had a habit of coming up to work intoxicated and upsetting customers. He worked at a momo restaurant on Neeladri Road in Electronics City.

"The Hoysala (patrol team) picked him up because he was stopping vehicles, hitting car windshields and two-wheeler riders and falling on the road, causing public nuisance. He started bleeding because of his actions so they took him to the multi-speciality hospital," the officer stated.

He was taken into custody by police on Tuesday and appeared in court late that evening as a magistrate. The BNS's Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and the non-bailable Karnataka Prohibition of Violence Against Medicare Service Personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009 have both been used to charge him.
