Professor Dr. Rajesh Dere, who oversees the toxicology and forensic medicine departments at Sion Hospital in Mumbai, was freed on bond on Sunday in connection with an incident in which he is accused of running a 60-year-old patient over with his automobile on the hospital grounds on Friday night.

On Sunday afternoon, Dr. Dere appeared before a holiday court in Bhoiwada. "My client has been released by the court on Rs 20,000 cash bail as the offense is bailable," stated his attorney, Ayush Pasbola. We've promised to work with the cops completely.

To acknowledge his attendance, Dr. Dere left the facility at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday and got into his car. He turned left near Gate 7 on his way to the punching machine, reportedly running over the woman because he failed to see her.

Afterwards, she was recognized as Mumbra resident Zubaida Shaikh.

The hospital did not report the incident to the police right away. Later, it was discovered that Dr. Dere was allegedly driving the vehicle after CCTV footage of the hospital's grounds was analyzed.

The police claim that following the incident, Dr. Dere called the government hospital's administrators and admitted Shaikh to ward 20. After being put on a ventilator, she passed away while receiving care.

Shaikh leaves behind her spouse, a daughter, and two boys. "My mother, who had diabetes, got a cut on her hand that worsened," her son Shahnawaz stated on Saturday. She was released from the hospital on May 16 after being admitted in April. She went to the hospital on Friday for her routine checkup.

In addition to section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, Dr. Dere has been charged by the police under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt by endangering life or personal safety), 177 (furnishing false information), and 203 (giving false information about an offence).

In order to determine if Dr. Dere was intoxicated at the time of the occurrence, the police are awaiting his medical report.

During the epidemic, Dr. Dere served as the nodal coordinator for the Jumbo Covid Centers run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in Mumbai. "I wasn't speeding inside the hospital," Dr. Dere stated in a Saturday media interview, "I personally drove her to the hospital following the event and checked her into the intensive care unit."

"I would not comment on this as the matter is under investigation," Dr. Dere's attorney responded when questioned concerning his assertion that the woman's death was caused by cardiac arrest rather than accident-related injuries.
