A 31-year-old patient is said to have died on Thursday night from postpartum hemorrhage after a BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) doctor, instead of a gynecologist, performed the patient's birth at a private nursing home in Patiala.
According to sources, the patient was bleeding excessively after birth, and the BAMS doctor tried, but was unable, to control the bleeding. She was consequently sent to Rajindra Hospital, where she sadly died a short while after.
The Patiala Health Department took notice of the situation, initiated an investigation, and requested that the committee provide a preliminary report within two days.

Blaming the nursing facility for the patient's demise. "My wife died because of negligence," stated Singh, the deceased's spouse. Justice is what I seek."
Patiala Civil Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Goyal said that he was not aware of the incidences but would look into them when he was questioned about the reported cases of incompetence that resulted in maternal fatalities.
Obstetrics is a very complicated science. Gynecologists are specialists at identifying and quickly managing difficulties and repercussions during childbirth. If you fail in this, you are deficient in your services. This demonstrates their ignorance of obstetrics and medical services. In order to prevent similar occurrences in the future, the government needs to implement remedial measures.

"After the delivery, the woman started bleeding," stated the BAMS physician in response to the problem. We sent the patient to Rajindra Hospital after we made an effort to control her bleeding. Soon after being admitted there, she passed away.
