After allegedly waiting for medical attention for about three hours, a staff member at Mumbai's St. George Hospital passed away. Anish Kailash Chauhan had visited the hospital in need of stitches after suffering head injuries. He can be seen waiting for assistance in a wheelchair with a bandage over his head on CCTV footage.
Reacting to what they perceived as a delay in medical treatment, Mr. Chauhan's family and friends assembled at the hospital after his death. For the alleged negligence, they are demanding responsibility.
His fellow workers have blamed the doctors for Mr. Chauhan's demise in the interim. They claimed the hospital's doctors were the only cause of the delay, and they sent an intern to check him out later.
In order to help control the demonstrating crowd, a number of police officers, including Zone 1 DCP Praveen Mundhe, had been seen outside the chamber of the Resident Medical Officer, Dr. Ganesh Bhandari.
Aditya Mahimkar, a friend of the victim, stated that until strong action is taken against those who must be held accountable for the tragedy, neither they nor anyone else will claim the body. He said, "We demand strict action and suspension of the Resident Medical Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Superintendent."
This event brings to light persistent worries regarding the administration of St. George Hospital, a government-run establishment that has already come under fire for its methods of patient care.
