A shocking incident unfolded at the Sangareddy Government Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, where a newborn girl was abducted from the Mata Shishu Centre. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) A. Sattaiah, the infant was taken by a group of four women posing as hospital staff. The newborn’s mother, Nasima, hailing from Dudigonda village in Manoor Mandal, had been admitted to the hospital in labor around 2 am and gave birth to a baby girl around 3 am.

Nasima’s mother and mother-in-law were present by her side in the maternity ward, watching over the baby. At approximately 1:50 pm, four women entered the ward, pretending to be hospital staff, and abducted the infant. One of the women swiftly grabbed the baby and fled from the hospital premises. Outside, a man was waiting on a motorcycle, and he quickly sped off with the woman and the baby. The other three women escaped in an auto-rickshaw.

Despite efforts by hospital staff to stop the group, they were unsuccessful in apprehending them. Following the incident, the baby’s father, Abbas Ali, along with hospital staff, filed a formal complaint with the Sangareddy town police.

Police officers immediately arrived at the hospital and began investigating the incident. CCTV footage from the hospital was reviewed, which captured the suspects fleeing the scene. The footage clearly showed the sequence of events, including the women taking the baby and leaving on a motorcycle.

DSP Sattaiah informed the press that a case has been registered, and the police have started reviewing additional CCTV footage from the old bus station and roads leading to the new bus station in an effort to track the movements of the suspects. He expressed confidence that the police would apprehend the offenders soon, based on the evidence gathered so far.

Meanwhile, relatives of the newborn expressed their frustration over the lack of security at the hospital. They alleged that previous incidents of a similar nature had occurred in the hospital, yet no effective security measures had been put in place. According to the family, the hospital has no restrictions on who can enter or exit, making it easy for unauthorized individuals to access sensitive areas like the maternity ward.

The abduction has raised serious concerns about the safety of newborns and the overall security protocols at the hospital. Hospital management is now under pressure to address these concerns and ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

The police investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to trace the suspects and safely return the newborn girl to her family. The authorities have assured the public that all necessary measures will be taken to prevent further incidents of this kind.
