The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is an initiative by the Government of India to rank institutions in various fields such as engineering, management, medicine etc.
The list of top medical, dental, and pharmacy institutions as per the NIRF ranking 2024 was disclosed on August 12, 2024. This was the 9th edition of this report released by the Ministry of Education.
AIIMS Delhi has bagged the top position for best medical college in India like the previous year, followed by AIIMS Delhi PGI Chandigarh and Vellore's Christian Medical College have managed to secure 2nd and 3rd ranks respectively.
As per the NIRF 2024 ranking for top rank for Dental college is secured by the Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai. Whereas the first rank for the Pharmacy institution was secured by Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi.

What are the criteria that decide the NIRF ranking of the Institutions?
The NIRF rankings are released by the Ministry of Education which assesses the rank of higher education institutions across India. The evaluation is based on five essential criteria: Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR); Research and Professional Practices (RPC); Graduation Outcomes (GO); Outreach and Inclusivity (OI); and Perception (PER).
