In Haryana's Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), a dental student has lodged a serious complaint against a resident doctor, accusing him of kidnapping and assault. According to the student's police report, the doctor abducted her and took her to Ambala and Chandigarh, where he physically assaulted her. The police have registered a case against the doctor, charging him with abduction, physical harm, and issuing threats.
The incident came to public attention when the student posted a video on X (formerly known as Twitter), where she tearfully displayed the wounds allegedly inflicted by the doctor. In an interview, she revealed that the doctor had been harassing her for seven months, persistently pressuring her to enter into a relationship. When she refused his advances, he reportedly resorted to kidnapping and assaulting her. The student also claimed that the doctor had threatened to fail her in anatomy if she did not comply with his demands.
The complaint was received on Sunday following which a case was registered against the accused and the victim was counseled in the presence of her parents and lawyer.

Although the police complaint does not indicate any evidence of rape or sexual harassment, the charges of kidnapping, harassment, and assault have led to the doctor’s arrest. He was held in custody for two days before being produced in court. Dr. S.S. Lohchab, the Director of PGIMS Rohtak, stated that the accused resident doctor has been expelled from the institution and is now barred from entering the college premises. The case has sparked outrage, raising concerns about safety and harassment within educational institutions.
