A shocking and bizarre wedding video has been raising eyebrows throughout social media.

Twin sisters Pinky and Rinke Padgaonkar both married Atul Uttam Autade in a wedding ceremony in Solapur, Maharashtra

The video showed them very nonchalantly practicing the garland tradition on their groom. The groom, both brides, and the guests seemed surprisingly unfazed about the bizarre wedding ceremony.

The video sent ripples through social media for obvious reasons. However, the video has also caught the attention of the police.

Maharashtra police have decided to launch an investigation into this matter. Atul Awtade is charged with Bigamy. Bigamy is considered illegal and can even lead to a seven-year jail sentence in India.

Atul Awtade was charged with a non-cognizable violation under IPC section 494 (marrying again when a spouse is still alive) for marrying twin sisters simultaneously on December 2, according to senior police officer Shirish Sardeshpande.

The incident was even more surprising as the twins are well-educated and work as IT engineers. Awtade, on the other hand, runs a travel agency in Mumbai. He allegedly knew the twins since they were children. He reportedly grew close to the twins as time passed. Reports suggest that their families also did not oppose.

After their father passed away, the twins moved in with their mother and began dating Atul, who eventually chose to wed both of them, according to a relative.

The wedding has also drawn criticisms from the Maharashtra Women's body and National Women's Commission.
