A 25-year-old pregnant woman died at a private nursing home in Biharsharif, Nalanda district, triggering violent outrage from her family. The incident occurred on Sunday night at the nursing home located in the Station Road area. The victim, Gudiya Kumari, a resident of Chainpura village, had been admitted due to a stomach ache. However, during her treatment, she passed away, leading to a series of violent events.

After Gudiya Kumari’s death, her upset relatives and the nearby villagers attacked the nursing home. In their anger, they damaged the medical facility, causing significant destruction. In the middle of the whole incident, a nurse named Punam Kumari was thrown off the building's first floor. Punam Kumari, aged 35, sustained critical injuries and was initially taken to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital. Later, she was transferred to a private hospital due to the severity of her condition.

The exact reasons for Punam Kumari's fall remain in question. The police claimed that Punam jumped off the building to escape the angry crowd. But her husband, Jai Kumar Prasad, stated that she was forcefully thrown off the first floor by the attackers. This conflicting account has added to the complexity of the incident.

The police officer in charge, Ramashankar Singh, confirmed the events following the patient’s death. According to Singh, after Gudiya Kumari’s condition worsened and she died, her family and local villagers became uncontrollably angry and attacked the nursing home. "Seeing the irate mob, the doctors and the staff fled," Singh added, indicating the level of threat perceived by the medical staff.

Gudiya Kumari’s family accused the nursing staff of medical negligence. They claimed that after Punam Kumari administered an injection to Gudiya, her condition suddenly deteriorated, leading to her ultimate death. This accusation further triggered the violent reaction from the family and local villagers.

Following this, the police intervened to control the situation and investigate the claims made by both sides. As the authorities attempt to put together what happened before the tragedy and subsequent violence, the environment remains firm. To find out more about the details of the events, the doctors who left the nursing home and other staff members are being questioned.

The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the truth behind the allegations of medical negligence and the circumstances of the nurse’s fall.

Such violent crowd incidents are reported in other areas in similar circumstances. For instance, a police station in Davanagere was damaged after a prisoner died in custody, resulting in injuries to 11 police personnel. Additionally, a junior doctor at AIIMS-Rishikesh was molested by a nursing officer, who has since been suspended and detained by the police.
