Following the discovery of beer cans, soda bottles, and water bottles chilled in a refrigerator intended for vaccine preservation at a community health center (CHC) in Dharpa, Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh authorities have opened an investigation.

Vinay Kumar Singh, the Chief Medical Officer, stated, clearly not amused, “A video showing beer cans, soda, and water bottles lounging in a deep freezer meant to preserve vaccines for infants and children at the hospital has come to our notice.

A probe led by the additional CMO has been initiated. Whoever is responsible will face the music.”

These freezers are essential to maintain vaccine temperature at the Dharpa CHC, where infants receive their first doses of BCG, zero-dose polio, and hepatitis B vaccines within 24 hours after birth.

“As per the rule, even water should not share space with vaccines in the fridge, as it can compromise their safety. This is a serious matter, and we will tackle it with iron gloves,” Singh added, ensuring that heads will roll when the harsh, honest truth is revealed.
