A gynecologist, Dr. Deepak Ghogra, has returned to serving patients at the district hospital after his dream to serve the people of Dungarpur by becoming their voice in the assembly was destroyed by the electorate.
Dr. Ghogra had secured special permission from the Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan HC to contest the polls, and if he gets defeated, he will rejoin government services. After his poll loss, Dr. Ghogra went to the health directorate in Jaipur on Tuesday to retrieve his position at the hospital.
Dr. Ghogra contested on a Bhartiya Tribal Party ticket from the Dungarpur constituency. Unfortunately, he got defeated, and, as per HC permission, he rejoined the service.
Dr. Ghogra said, "I met the director of public health, Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur, so that I could return to government duty, obeying the HC order.
On the other hand, a nurse at the same hospital named Banshilal Katara was not that fortunate to rejoin the service after the poll loss. He had resigned to contest from the same seat as a BJP candidate. However, he lost the seat while a Congress candidate secured it.
Among all the candidates in the assembly polls, Dr. Ghogra was the only government doctor to contest. Generally, when a government employee desires to participate in an election, the employee has to take the VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme). A high court granted a government doctor permission to rejoin services in remarkably rare cases.
Dr. Ghogra, who is 43 years old, belongs to the ST community. Since 2014, he has been working at the Dungarpur district hospital. He completed his MBBS and PG in gynecology from RNT Medical College in Udaipur.
Dr. Ghogra did not lose hope despite the sufferings of his reverse polls. According to his hopeful nature, he said, "I wanted to serve the people by reaching the state assembly, but I did not get the response. I will continue serving people as a doctor in the government hospital. But if I get a chance again to fight elections, I will take it again. The loss has not discouraged me."
