Surat Doctor Arrested in 5.25 Cr Ambulance Scam

A doctor identified as Dr. Hardik Patwa who worked as a tutor at Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education And Research (SMIMER) was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Surat police in a 5.25 crore ambulance scam.

Dr.Patwa started his ambulance service business namely Sunshine Ambulance Service and Youngs Ambulance Service in 2021 which were operated by his two allies Hemant Parmar and Mayur Goswami

According to the police, the accused Doctor allegedly cheated 5.25 crores from 12 doctors of Surat in the name of an ambulance service business. The accused lured his 12 doctor friends to invest in his two ambulance service business namely Sunshine Ambulance Service and Youngs Ambulance Service in which he offered them a 50% profit share.

According to a report, Dr.Patwa also told the victim doctors that he had got a contract from JSW Steel for providing 12 ambulances at their company's plant for which he even made a fake contract with JSW Steel to make them believe in his project.

The report for the fraud was filed in May 2024 when the accused failed to fulfill the promised profits mentioned by him in the deal.

Surat police also informed that since the FIR was lodged after the complaint by the victim Dr. Patwa fled to Varanasi and was constantly changing his locations which were being monitored by their team.

On Thursday Patwa came to meet her mother at his residence in Vesu area of Surat from where he was arrested and produced to court and was sent on a remand for five days.

The investigation is still ongoing to determine the whereabouts of the money he collected from the doctors.
