A shocking incident has surfaced from Tamil Nadu as the body of an infant was recovered.
What makes the situation even more sinister is that the baby was delivered by a class 11 student. The body was found near the toilet of a government school in Chidambaram town of Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu.
The school authorities found the infant's body near the school toilet. The authorities immediately contacted the Bhuvanagari Police. The police investigation team identified a 16-year-old who confessed to having done the delivery on her own. She allegedly felt delivery pain while attending a class and came to the toilet.
“There, she gave birth. Though she said it was a stillbirth, we suspect the baby might have died because she was unassisted during the delivery. The girl allegedly cut the umbilical cord herself using a pen and came back to the classroom as per her initial statement,” a police source told.
The girl being a minor exasperates the entire situation even more. The police have launched an investigation to find out who impregnated the minor.
The girl told the police that no one in her family knew that she was pregnant.
The police have detained several suspects, including her relatives. The incident has raised eyebrows throughout the country. The girl has been shifted to a hospital.
