The Telangana Medical Council arrested three fake doctors after an inspection of 40 skin, laser, hair, and cosmetology centers in areas like Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Madhapur, Hitech City, Kukatpally, and Miyapur.
The inspections revealed that out of the said clinics, 20 were being run without any qualified dermatologists or plastic surgeons or permission from the district registration authority. Some clinics employed dental, ayurvedic, and homoeopathy practitioners who used lasers beyond their qualifications. Notices have been issued to these unqualified practitioners.
Only doctors with MBBS, MD Dermatology, or MCH Plastic Surgery qualifications should perform cosmetic treatments like hair transplantation.

These practices pose serious risks, including infections, scarring, and incorrect diagnoses. Dr. G. Srinivas, TGMC vice-chairman, emphasized, "Only doctors with MBBS, MD Dermatology, or MCH Plastic Surgery qualifications should perform cosmetic treatments like hair transplantation." He further pointed out that over 200 complaints were received, although he estimated the real incidence to be probably ten times this figure. He then listed some of the injurious effects of these procedures in unqualified hands: such as drug reactions, chemical burns, and sepsis from poor aseptic precautions.
