A one-and-half-year-old girl child has died after being attacked by stray dogs in Delhi’s Tughlakabad. The child suffered deep injuries on her face and legs in the attack.
According to the information the child was sitting outside of her home when three to four dogs attacked her. Her family members heard the screams of the child and rushed to the spot. They chased the dogs away and rushed the child to the hospital. However, the doctors declared the child dead on the way to the hospital. The body has been sent for autopsy and police are investigating the issue.
The family of the child alleged that the dogs hauled the child for 100-150 meters, and she suffered serious injuries. Ravi, the child’s uncle said that around 6 pm, four to five stray dogs unexpectedly attacked their child, hauled her for 100-150 meters, and mauled her. He also said that this was not the first stray dog attack in the location. These same dogs attacked children who were playing outside their homes.
The concern over stray dog attacks is rising in the country. The attacks on pedestrians, especially on children are growing larger, which initiated instantaneous actions by the civic authorities. In some areas, animal lovers who are feeding stray dogs also come under fire, they don't want to catch the stray dogs by the administration.
The rising incidents of dog attacks and anger over civic authorities’ alleged inaction to control stray dogs led the locals to choose illegal ways to protect themselves from the dogs.
One such case was reported in the Mahabubnagar district of Telangana, where 20 stray dogs were found dead. Police have filed a case, and initiated an investigation into the matter to catch those who were involved in the ruthless slayings. Another incident happened in Maharashtra’s Thane where six dogs, including a German Shepherd, two Labradors, and one stray dog were poisoned. Police started an inquiry into the concern.
In residential neighborhoods not only stray dogs, but pets are also becoming a subject of aggressive disputes. In the national capital region pet owners have fought with neighbors on whether dogs should be permitted in the lifts or not.
