On Monday, a retired physician from the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Choithram Hospital took his own life by jumping off the third story of the C21 Mall in the Vijay Nagar area of Indore.
According to the police, 65-year-old Dr. Manmohan Soni jumped from the 3rd story (70 feet above the ground) of the mall. He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The doctor was a resident of Aditya Nagar C-21.
He was suffering from a spinal cord disease, which is suspected to be the reason for this drastic measure. The matter is being further investigated by the police of the Vijay Nagar area.
On the morning of Monday, around 11 am, the 65-year-old doctor left the house with his driver without eating breakfast. He instructed his driver to park the car outside the mall and wait there. The driver waited for almost 3 hours and also chatted with him once over the call.
The doctor jumped from the third story shortly after the call.
As per Salim Khan of the mall management, screaming abruptly erupted from the mall's ground floor at about 3.15 p.m. He claimed that the security staff at the mall had seen him attempting to scale the railing. But before they could attempt a rescue, the doctor had already leapt. Other visitors at the mall also attempted to stop him but failed.
