A remarkable surgical procedure was successfully performed on a 21-year-old parrot in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district. The parrot underwent tumor surgery at the district veterinary hospital, a testament to the advancing veterinary care in the region.

The parrot's owner, Chandrabhan Vishwakarma, noticed a lump on the bird's neck approximately six months ago. As the lump grew, it caused significant distress to the parrot, affecting its ability to speak and eat. Concerned for the parrot's health, Vishwakarma contacted the district veterinary hospital for assistance.

Following an examination, veterinary doctors diagnosed the lump as a tumor and recommended surgery. Veterinary doctor Balendra Singh stated, "We called the owner the next day for the parrot's surgery." The intricate procedure lasted around two hours and involved removing the tumor from the parrot's throat area.

The surgery was challenging due to the tumor's location, but the skilled veterinary team successfully extracted the 20-gram tumor. The parrot weighed 98 grams, and the removed tumor accounted for approximately 20% of its body weight.

The extracted tumor has been sent to Rewa Veterinary College for further examination. According to Dr. Singh, this was the first reported case of a tumor in a bird in the district.

This remarkable surgical achievement showcases the expertise and dedication of the veterinary team at the district veterinary hospital in Satna. The hospital's commitment to providing quality care to animals, regardless of size or species, is truly commendable.

The parrot's owner expressed gratitude to the veterinary team for their exceptional care and expertise. This heartwarming story highlights the importance of seeking timely veterinary intervention for pets and animals in distress.

With this successful surgery, the district veterinary hospital has set a shining example of compassion and medical excellence in animal care.
