Russia invaded Ukraine as an escalation of the Russia-Ukrainian War on 24 February 2022. The invasion instigated Europe's largest refugee crisis since World War II. The invasion also caused thousands of deaths on either side.
One can only imagine visiting Ukraine during such times. However, the patriot in Nataliya Vyetrova wasn't going to stop her from visiting her home country during such difficult times.
Vyetrova was working as a Fashion expert. However, while attending a pro-Ukraine rally in the US, Vyetrova realized that she was in the wrong place. She will have to leave the comfort of the US and move to Ukraine to actively contribute. She booked a ticket right away. After an initial trip, she returned to Washington with a plan. She collected some funds and after two months, she managed to establish a centre for the internally displaced in Lviv city of Ukraine.
The foundation initially was focused on providing food, clothing, and attention. However, Vyetrova realized that the people required more than physical help. She started a conversation on war-related trauma, especially among children.
She launched a program devised by clinical psychologists to help children deal with war-related trauma. The program covers trauma ranging from natural disorders, violent crimes, and ultimately the war. The program uses games so that adults can communicate with children about their trauma and help them get over it.
