On Sunday 11 August 2024, Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh) Police arrested the Manager of a Pharmacy College for issuing fake pharmacy degrees and swindling them of several lakhs of rupees. According to the police, forged documents, including fee receipts were recovered from the accused.
A few days ago, students were assaulted after they protested over the issue. A student named Mukesh filed an FIR at the Sangramgarh police station. During the investigation, Lalgani Ramsurat Sonkar, the circle officer confirmed the allegation, leading to the arrest of Ashish Yadav, the Manager of the Pharmacy College.
Ashish Yadav was accused of duping a large number of students on the pretext of helping the failed students to pass, concessions in fees, and issuing diploma certificates to the students. After defrauding the students of several lakhs, the college was shut down and replaced with a resort, SP Anil Kumar said.
Police seized a range of incriminating items from the pharmacy college and the manager’s office in Phaphamau. Among the items recovered were laptops, mobile phones, fake identity cards of students, and stamps belonging to Gateway Institute Education Society, Delhi and Singhania University, Rajasthan.
Additionally, they found cheque books, visiting cards, forged diploma course mark sheets, and admission fee receipts, further implanting those involved in the fraudulent operation.
