Uttar Pradesh: Doctor Sexually Assaults Dalit Nurse in Hospital

Police stated on Monday that a doctor had sexually assaulted a Dalit nurse while she was being held hostage in a private hospital. The victim's father filed a report, claiming that the incident happened on Sunday night at midnight. The case resulted in the arrest of three persons, according to SP (Rural) Sandeep Kumar Meena.

The 20-year-old victim reported for duty at the hospital on Saturday night at 7 o'clock. For the previous seven months, she had been employed there. Mehnaz, another nurse, requested her to meet Dr. Shahnawaz in his room late at night.

Meena claimed that when she refused, Mehnaz and a ward boy named Junaid forcibly carried her to a room on the hospital's top level and closed it from the outside. Meena continued, "Dr. Shahnawaz later entered the room and raped her after holding her hostage." Along with making casteist remarks, he also threatened to murder her.

Man arrested in Rajouri for harassing a female doctor

According to police, a guy was taken into custody early on Monday morning for reportedly causing a disturbance and harassing a female doctor who was on duty at a hospital in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. Doctors and paramedical workers at the sub-district hospital in Nowshera protested against the accused Gurpreet Singh, they said.

The disturbance started at 12:45 a.m., according to the officials, when Singh went to the hospital with a patient and then allegedly engaged in hooliganism without any reason. Before leaving the scene, the suspects allegedly destroyed a windowpane and mistreated a female doctor who attempted to step in.
