In a fit of rage for not giving a wedding anniversary gift, a Bengaluru woman allegedly stabbed her husband while he was asleep in their house in the city’s tech corridor. Police have registered a case of attempted murder against the wife.
In the early morning of February 27, a dispute emerged between the couple over not giving an anniversary gift. The 35-year-old accused wife, Sandhya, turned to violence and stabbed her 37-year-old husband, Kiran, with a kitchen knife while he slept.
Staggered by her attack, Kiran pushed her before she could injure him further. Afterward, he alerted the neighbors and went to a private hospital to treat his hand injury. Bellandur police registered the case against her on March 1 after receiving a medico-legal report.
The victim, Kiran, mentioned to the police that, due to his grandfather’s death, he could not buy her a gift a day before their wedding anniversary, which resulted in a tense situation between the couple.
Kiran, a private firm employee, also informed the police that it was the first time she did not receive a gift on their wedding anniversary. He also added that, due to some personal issues, Sandhya was disturbed and wanted to take counseling sessions.
While the authorities recognized the familial nature of the incident, they still prompted a thorough investigation since the hospital released a medico-legal report.
In another separate incident reported in December 2023 from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, A woman allegedly stabbed her husband in the eye with a pair of scissors after he asked her to use her mobile phone to listen to music on YouTube.
The husband, Ankit, lodged a complaint against his wife, Priyanka, over the incident. A case had been registered, and an investigation had been launched into the case.
