In Bihar's Saran district, a tragic incident involving a fake doctor has raised serious concerns about medical fraud and negligence. A 15-year-old boy named Krishan Kumar underwent a laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed by a man who allegedly learned the procedure by watching videos on YouTube. The boy's condition deteriorated rapidly after the surgery, leading to his untimely death.
Krishan Kumar was initially admitted to Ganapathi Hospital in Saran due to persistent vomiting. While his symptoms initially subsided, the self-proclaimed doctor, Ajit Kumar Puri, insisted on performing surgery. The boy's family was unaware of Puri's qualifications and trusted his assurances.
We admitted him and the vomiting stopped soon after. But the doctor Ajit Kumar Puri said he needs to be operated upon. He conducted the operation by watching videos on YouTube. My son died later

According to the boy's grandfather, Puri did not obtain consent for the surgery. Instead, he sent family members away on errands and proceeded with the operation. Following the surgery, Krishan experienced severe pain. When his parents confronted Puri, he responded aggressively, questioning their medical knowledge.
In the evening after the surgery, Krishan's condition worsened, and he stopped breathing. Despite efforts to revive him with CPR, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Patna. Puri and his team abandoned the boy's body on the hospital stairs and fled the scene.
When questioned about their decision to consult Puri despite concerns over his qualifications, the boy's parents stated that their primary concern was to stop his vomiting. They did not realize the gravity of the situation or the lack of professional credentials of the person they trusted with their son's surgery.
We just wanted the vomiting to stop. He conducted the operation without our consent.

Police investigations are ongoing, with a search for Puri and an inquiry into the incident. The body of Krishan Kumar has been sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. This incident highlights the critical need for vigilance and verification of medical professionals to prevent such devastating occurrences in the future.
