Kourtney Kardashian Barker, the eldest Kardashian sister, launched her lifestyle website Poosh in 2019. Following its success, she ventured into supplements and products promoting a healthy lifestyle. While her brand initially thrived, her supplement line, Lemme, faced criticism from experts due to its extravagant claims. Additionally, the products were not FDA-approved. One of her latest offerings is the "Lemme GLP-1 Daily."

GLP-1 medications, like Ozempic, are used to manage blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Ozempic mimics the GLP-1 hormone, which helps release insulin, controlling blood sugar levels. One notable side effect of Ozempic is weight loss, which has made it popular among those seeking to lose weight.

Kourtney developed her own weight loss supplement, Lemme GLP-1, which some netizens have dubbed a "natural Ozempic." The company claims the product is all-natural, and it is sold for ₹7,500 for 30 capsules. The active ingredients include Eriomin, Supresa, and Morosil. According to the website, Lemme GLP-1 reduces hunger, curbs cravings, promotes fat reduction, and maintains normal blood sugar levels. The recommended dosage is two capsules daily with food. The website outlines how the product works: during the first two months, users will experience reduced hunger, and by the third month, it claims to increase GLP-1 levels. By six months, the supplement is said to promote healthy weight management. The company asserts that there are no side effects as the ingredients are natural.

Experts have analyzed each ingredient in the product and reported that while the supplement may aid in weight management, there is no direct link to GLP-1 hormone regulation.

Eriomin is a lemon extract that helps regulate blood sugar levels. He refers to a National Institutes of Health study that found Eriomin may reduce fasting blood glucose and improve insulin sensitivity. However, there is little evidence to support its role in fat reduction or increasing GLP-1 levels.

Another key ingredient in Lemme GLP-1 is Supresa, a saffron extract. Supresa, derived from Crocus sativus flowers, has been clinically studied for its ability to aid weight management by increasing serotonin levels and reducing snacking. However, there is a lack of evidence linking saffron to higher GLP-1 levels.

Morosilis is a red-orange extract rich in anthocyanins, which are antioxidants. Some studies suggest Morosil may aid fat reduction by regulating fat metabolism and possibly reducing fat cell size. Still, no solid evidence connects Morosil with elevated GLP-1 levels.

In conclusion, Kourtney’s supplement may help reduce food cravings and assist in weight management, but there is no evidence it will increase GLP-1 hormone levels. While the individual ingredients are generally safe, there are no studies on their combined effects, and potential side effects like diarrhea, gas, and bloating could occur.

Despite these natural components, experts caution that there is no scientific evidence linking these ingredients to GLP-1 hormone regulation or weight loss comparable to Ozempic.(Representational image: Unsplash)
