Rajahmundry: In a significant crackdown, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted a raid on a manufacturing unit in Ghantavari Palem, within the Nallajarla police station limits in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday night. The operation led to the discovery of raw materials intended for the production of Alprazolam, a controlled substance, at an abandoned unit located on the service road on the outskirts of Ghantavari Palem.

During the raid, the NCB arrested three individuals involved in the illegal operation. Among those arrested was P. Balakrishna from Sanga Reddy district in Telangana, who was identified as the person responsible for setting up the machinery used in the illicit manufacturing process. In addition to Balakrishna, Venkatesh, Sambhani, and Jagadeesh, who provided technical support to the operation, were also apprehended by the authorities.

G. Deva Kumar, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Kovvuru, stated that the NCB is continuing its raids in the region, indicating that further developments and arrests may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses. The East Godavari police are in the process of registering a case based on the information provided by the NCB.

The raid and subsequent seizure of raw materials intended for the production of Alprazolam underscore the ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug manufacturing in the region. Alprazolam, a drug commonly misused for its sedative properties, is often produced illegally in unregulated facilities, contributing to the wider problem of drug abuse.

The discovery of this manufacturing unit is a testament to the vigilance of the NCB and local law enforcement in their efforts to clamp down on the illegal drug trade. The operation is part of a broader strategy to disrupt the supply chains of illicit drugs and bring those responsible for their production and distribution to justice.

The authorities have vowed to intensify their efforts in the region, focusing on identifying and dismantling similar operations. The NCB, along with local police, is committed to ensuring that those involved in the illegal production of controlled substances face the full force of the law.

As the investigation continues, the NCB is expected to uncover more details about the extent of the operation and any potential connections to larger drug trafficking networks. The collaboration between the NCB and local law enforcement will be crucial in maintaining pressure on those engaged in the illegal drug trade.
