The officials of the Telangana Drug Control Administration (DCA) caught the illegal distribution of the banned drug Etolar-P (Etodolac and Paracetamol Tablets) in Karimnagar.

During the special rides executed by the DCA officials on March 13, Wednesday, they noticed the banned medicine was in an illegal supply. The prohibited medicine was illicitly manufactured by Dr. Edwin Medilabs Pvt. Ltd., a company in Punjab, and was marketed by Surewin Healthcare, located in Haryana.

In 2018, the Government of India (GOI) banned 'Etolar-P Tablets’, the drug combination of Etodolac and Paracetamol.  The DCA Director General V B Kamalsan Reddy said that this drug is prohibited due to the possibility of health risks to humans and the absence of therapeutic justification.

The Government of India banned the manufacturing, sale, and distribution of this medication for human use on September 7, 2018.  The production and marketing of banned drugs is a serious offense.

The DCA officials caught the banned Etolar-P tablets at Srihith Medical Agencies in Seetharampur, Karimnagar. The Etolar-P tablets were produced by Dr. Edwin Medilabs Pvt. Ltd., which is located at Plot No: B-29, industrial area, Murali, SAS Nagar, Punjab and it is distributed by Panchkula, Surewin Healthcare in Haryana.

The DCA officials M Srinivasulu, Assistant Director in Karimnagar, and P Karthik Bharadwaj, Drug Inspector, Karimnagar, executed the raids and confiscated the prohibited drugs. The officials also said that further investigation would be accomplished and action would be taken against the delinquents.

The authorities said that they would conduct surprise inspections to catch the distribution of banned drugs and strict action would be taken against the offenders. The DCA officials also provided a toll-free number 1800-599-6969 to report any illicit activities concerning the medications.
